CPSC 430 Software Engineering

Juliette, Brent, and I met with Dr. Meadows this afternoon to iron out some items for the specification document. In short, we determined that several of the components in the LEGO Mindstorms kit should be given priority, because these are the components that every kit has. Other components are currently on our “wish list,” but because they won’t be used as often, they are not requirements for the project at the moment.

Required Modules
touch sensors
light sensors
motors

“Wish List” Modules
rotation sensors
Vernier probes

With this determined, we will probably do several modules per sensor, to really give a good introduction on the variety of things you can do with them. We’ll also be taking some time to introduce, within these modules, different code structures of which ROBOLAB is capable.

We’ll be meeting with Dr. Meadows again, this time with the whole team, after class on Monday. At that meeting, we will discuss in detail what the different modules will do so that we can move on to use-case models and the like. We’ll update again with the results of that meeting next week.

The Google Document is up and I sent out invitations to everyone. Whether the invitation works without a gmail address as the recipient, I’m not sure. If you didn’t get an invitation, let me know as soon as possible.

I checked and I could open and modify the doc. I think this will help us get some good work done outside the meetings.

Also, I got a speaking center appointment for 3 on Wednesday. After our meeting today I’ll start working on the powerpoint since we will have a good grasp on our use cases.
